About Sports Podge

Here are the rules…

This year our annual lunch is being held at the magnificent
Arts Club in Dover Street, W1 and the food will be prepared
by the chef for the Scottish FA, Simon Whitley. We split the
bill between everyone who attends so “absolutely no
freebies”. Get your hands in your pockets, blow the
cobwebs from your wallets and purses, and stump
up the 100 pounds to cover the cost of everything.

We have a top line up of guests, with football, rugby, tennis, cricket, Powerboat racing, F1, BBC, Sky and Setanta all represented at senior level. The Brazilian ladies beach volleyball team have been invited, and we are eagerly awaiting a reply! An anonymous sponsor is again putting £2k behind the bar after the lunch – and it would be rude not to accept - so you can get your drinking goggles on again this year. And Sports Recruitment International are kindly helping us with some of the unseen costs of organising such a great event. Many thanks to them.

Ok, so why the name Podge?

For 15 years the Creative community have an annual event, www.podgelunch.com and for six years the digital community have had www.digitalpodge.co.uk and it just seems to be a winning format that brings the most senior industry players together without ever taking itself too seriously.

The creative podge lunches took five years to become “must-attend” events in everyone’s diaries. Sports Podge achieved this in its second year and year three will definitely be over-subscribed. An amazing achievement for an event that has no other agenda other than meeting senior people in the industry over a fun lunch.
